Penelope Peapods are blowing off the shelves at the Kate Spade Store, Neiman Marcus, Carlton House, Petite Maison, The Merry Thought, My Evil Twin, The Smocked Frock and Monogrammit, FAO Schwartz in New York, and ultra celebrity boutique, Kitson, in Los Angeles. Coincidentally, creator Shelagh Herzog is a 7th generation Texan, originally from Austin.

This is an adorable on-the-go doll for a little girl. The Penelope Peapod is a small baby doll. She fits into its cradle that turns into a purse, which can be carried all over with ease.

Of the approximately 6,000 new toys expected to ener the U.S. market this year, only a fraction are likely to win kids' hearts and parents' wallets. But one Manhattan doll-maker has managed to do just that in her first year in business.

I get a lot of mail about new products. And I try really hard to look at everything I get, since I always want to have the new, great thing, whatever it may be. But a product has to be pretty interesting to catch my attention. When I opened the mailing about Penelope Peapod, I was out the door to catch an airplane.
